Growing up in Sacramento, I trained in tap, jazz, and ballet, knowing from a young age that my passion for movement would take me to a big stage—or in my case, the NBA court. For six incredible seasons, I danced in nearly 260 games with the Sacramento Kings Dance Team. That journey took me around the world—from China to the Philippines, and even to Iraq, where I had the honor of performing for our troops on a Goodwill Tour.
When I hung up my dancing shoes in 2012, my creativity found a new outlet. In 2013, I founded Backwood Design, quickly becoming Sacramento’s go-to lifestyle expert and making regular appearances on local morning news programs.
Still, I missed the freedom of movement that dance had given me. In 2010, I had taken my first yoga class and instantly fell in love with the flow-like movements that felt like dancing for the soul. Inspired by Oprah’s words—“Never stop investing in yourself”—I pursued my 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training in 2015. Today, I’m proud to teach at four different yoga studios across Northern California, including Zuda Yoga, one of Sacramento’s most beloved studios. In 2024, I took my passion a step further, opening my own yoga school—Synchronize with Purpose—alongside my business partner, Andrew, to train and inspire the next generation of teachers.
My wellness journey also inspired a change in how I nourished myself. After years of navigating a plant-based lifestyle on my own, I discovered Arbonne—a health and wellness company offering vegan, cruelty-free nutrition and self-care products. What began as a quest for a discount quickly became a passion. I “Arbonnized” my entire home, from skincare and makeup to bath, body, and nutrition, and eventually became a National Vice President. Today, I lead a diverse and inspiring team committed to making a positive impact in the world.
And perhaps my most rewarding role of all began in 2016: motherhood. My son, Miles, fills my life with joy, wonder, and plenty of beautiful chaos.
