Growing up in Sacramento as a trained dancer in Tap, Jazz, and Ballet, I knew early on that my passion for movement would lead me to the big stage—or should I say, the NBA court? For six incredible seasons, I danced at nearly 260 games with the Sacramento Kings Dance Team. This experience took me around the world, from China to the Philippines, and even to Iraq, where I had the honor of performing for our troops on a Goodwill tour.
When I hung up my dancing shoes in 2012, my creative spark found a new outlet. I founded Backwood Design in 2013, and before long, I had become Sacramento's go-to lifestyle expert, making regular appearances on local morning news programs.
While my design career fulfilled my creative side, something was still missing—the freedom of movement that dance had given me. In 2010, I took my first yoga class, and immediately fell in love with its flow-like movements that felt almost like dancing. The practice gave me the freedom to express myself in a way I hadn’t realized I was craving. Oprah always says, “Never stop investing in yourself,” and I knew yoga was the next step in my journey. In 2015, I completed my 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training, and today, I’m proud to teach at Zuda Yoga, one of Sacramento’s staple studios.
My journey to wellness also led me to reassess my diet. After years of trying to manage a plant-based lifestyle on my own, I discovered Arbonne—a health and wellness company offering vegan, cruelty-free products for both nutrition and self-care. Arbonne helped me simplify my routine, and what started as a quest for a discount turned into so much more. I’ve since “Arbonnized” my entire home with their skincare, makeup, bath & body products, and nutrition, becoming a National Vice President with a diverse and inspiring team dedicated to making a positive impact on the world.
And as if that wasn’t enough, in 2016, I embarked on the most rewarding adventure of all—motherhood. My son, Miles (SMB), has filled my life with joy, and my journey as a mom continues to evolve every single day.
